Monday, May 21, 2007 - 10:45pm Senate Preparing to Grant Amnesty to Illegals The left and the right have hashed out a plan for illegal immigration in the Senate, but very few are happy about it. The bill was put together behind closed doors because no politician wants to take credit for it. The primary issue is amnesty, but there are other problems as well. There are already 17 Senators who support the bill that includes amnesty. Another 32 waiting to see which way the wind blows with the public. Only 17 others completely oppose it.
Big business, which loves illegal immigration, is actually disappointed in the bill because it doesn't go far enough. Are you kidding me? These companies (see Wal-Mart) have made a fortune on hiring workers below minimum wage. They don't want to pay a fair wage to legal immigrants and to the Americans that already live here. Therefore, they lobby politicians to create cheap labor.
These politicians in Washington believe that they either have to grant amnesty to illegals or deport all twelve million of them. They apparently aren't intelligent enough to come up with any alternatives.
How about they secure the border of the United States first and then worry about what to do with the illegals that are here? Last time I checked, they hadn't figured out how to stop the flow of illegals into the country. Why even bother addressing the issue of amnesty if they can't solve the border issue?
One way or another, the Democrats and the Republicans are going to screw this up. They always do. Amnesty will happen because both sides have already been bought and paid for by the business sector...and like I said, big business wants illegals.
