Marc Chagall 2009 Calendars
|
A
Russian painter who was born in Belarus, Marc Chagall became
one of the most prominent artists in the 20th century.
He was born in 1887 as Moishe Segal to a Jewish family.
Life was hard for Jewish people at the time and Chagall was
only allowed to live in certain areas. He eventually
moved to Paris. These 2009 Chagall calendars showcase
some of his great paintings. His art has been featured
in a major motion picture. In the film Knotting
Hill, Hugh Grant's character has a replica of a Chagall
painting in his flat. It is the same painting as the
one on the cover of this 2009 Chagall calendar to the right. Later
in the movie, Julia Roberts' character gives a Chagall
painting to Hugh Grant. He is astounded when he
realizes that it is an original. |
