The
National Hockey League expanded before the 1967 season and
the Philadelphia Flyers were born. Playing in South
Philly on Broad Street, they became known as the Broad
Street Bullies for their rough skating. Above, see the
2009 Philadelphia Flyers calenars that are chock full of
information. It wasn't until the early 1970's that
they would be able to challenge the Original Six hockey
teams. The Philadelphia Flyers were then able to take
the championship in 1974 and 1975. Unfortunately, that
was the last time they won. The Flyers now have a 31
year drought, but should return with a great team. As
the 2009 Flyers calendars show, they bring back a team that has
been very competitive. The Philadelphia Flyers' key
skaters are Derian Hatcher, Simon Gagne, Keith Primeau, and
Sami Kapanen. |
