Hockey 2009 Calendars

The
sport of ice hockey is immensely popular in Canada, where
the National Hockey League (NHL) originated from. The
NHL began in 1917 in Montreal, Quebec. The league
consisted of five teams to start with, but it eventually
expanded to 30 teams and moved predominantly south into the
United States. The 2009 Hockey calendars pictured show
paintings of the sport itself along with former NHL stars.
Until recently, many of the NHL teams were located in
Canada, but now only six remain. The Hamilton Tigers,
Winnipeg Jets, and many other teams are gone. The 2009
Hockey Heroes calendar goes back into the days when the game
was different. Despite not having a season in 2004,
the league bounced back in 2005 - 2006 and hopes to be even
stronger with a new television contract. |
