Pictured
are two FEMA t-shirts from our Hurricane Katrina category. The
shirt reads "Disaster mitigation, preparedness, Response and
Recovery Planning." The FEMA Disaster t-shirts
show that those slogans do not apply in most situations.
The
worst natural disaster in American history was when
Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005. What made a
terrible situation much, much worse was the incompetence of
the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This
FEMA Disaster shirt reads at the bottom "Only valid in
dealing with hurricanes during election years in important
swing states." The fact is that President Bush stacked
the upper levels of FEMA with cronies that had very little
or no emergency management experience. The
administration made Michael Brown the fall guy, but in
reality it was George Bush who appointed people that had no
clue. These FEMA t-shirts point that out and draw
attention to the incompetence in the wake of Hurricane
Katrina.
